Wabanaki Waterways, Wabanaki Wayfinders and Seafarers Presentation

  • Mc Arthur Library 270 Main Street Biddeford ME (map)

Minquansis Sapiel will be speaking about the Wabanaki WaterWays and their history of wayfinding, guiding and whale hunting. She will discuss how slowly the Wabanaki people were stripped away of their rights and connection to most of their traditional routes due to Dams,  regulation and laws imposed on them throughout history.

Learn how the State of Maine  laws and regulations  continue to impose on Wabanaki Sovereignty in present time.  The Wabanaki people want To fish and hunt and travel like they have always done for thousands of years before colonialism. They want to reclaim our connection to the Waterways of what is now called Maine.

Please join us for a very important discussion
